Mr. Mohan K., the Director of Adastra Intellectual Property Sdn Bhd, visited LEO BAND &CO. on September 22,  2014.  Mr. Lanning discussed with our Mr.Alan Young, Ms. Freya Sheng, and lawyer Jeff Young about potential future cooperation in work regarding intellectual property protection and other services. In the end, this meeting served as a basis for promising cooperation in the future.

The Eleventh Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum was held in Shanghai. This forum is organized and hosted by World Intellectual Property Organization (hereinafter as “WIPO”) and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, P. R. China.

Mr. Alan Young and Ms. Freya Sheng, who are the director General and vise director of General separately of Shanghai Xuhui International Intellectual Property Protection Association (hereinafter as “SXIPPA”), as well as Tingting Shen, Aijing Cheng from Leo Band &Co., were invited to participate in this forum.

Mr.Yang Xiong, Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and Mr. Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the State Intellectual Property office of China participated in Welcoming and Opening remarks. Then it should be mentioned that Dr. Francis Gurry, director general of the WIPO gave the keynote speech for this forum. Following that, Mr. Andrew Ong, the director of the regional of Bureau for Asia and the Pacific, the WIPO;  Mr. Migule director general of Mexican Institute of Industrial Property； Mr. C.K. Kong, Convenor of working group on IP Trading and the Government HKSAR and other reporters gave their in-depth syudy speeches separately on Current Trends in international intellectual Property Development and Cooperation; the use of IP and value realization and the Protection of IP in Free Trade Zone. Their intensive studies provided cherish experience and support for Shanghai especially doe Shanghai Free-Trade Zone IP’s protection and development.

:On 10th, December, the Associate Vice President of TT Consultants, whose headquarter is located in Washington DC, visited our Leo Band & Co. Shanghai Office to show their advanced automated patent searching tools and services for us. Mr. Alan Yang, welcomed his visit along with Mr. Jeff Young.

During the presentation, the director secretary of Association expressed his high interest in TT Consultants’ hi-tech searching tools. Meanwhile, he discussed the latest patent searching tools and databases with Mr. Goel. Moreover, he thought that our Association’s broad network and rich resources would be the great platform for TT Consultants.

After the presentation, Mr.Alan Young invited Mr. Goel to participate in our forum which would be organized and held by Association in the next April. Mr. Goel expressed his appreciation for the invitation and thought that our Association would be a great platform for TT Consultants development. He also wishes that TT Consultants could be a member of Association in the future in order to share with our rich resources.

THE FOURTH YANGTZE RIVER DELTA IP SERVICE ASSOCIATION FORUM RE “FINANCIAL MEANS TO IMPROVE IP SERVICE” AND

FIRST SHANGHAI JIAOTONG UNIVERSITY & DUKE UNIVERSITY “INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON FINANCIAL LAW” WERE SUCCESSFULLY HELD

The 4th Yangtze River Delta (“YRD”) Intellectual property (“IP”) Service Association Forum re “Financial Means to Improve IP Service”, which was mainly held by Shanghai IP Service Center, and organized by Xuhui District IP Service Institute and its core team Leo Band & Co., was successfully held in Jiaotong University Law School as well as the 1st Shanghai Jiaotong University & Duke University “International Forum on Financial Law.”

The representatives of the IP service and companies attending the YRD forum came from 28 cities in YRD region. On the forum, The Director of Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (“SIPA”) , Guoqiang Lv, the Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of SIPA, Jing Wang, the Director of Shanghai IP Service Center and the President of YRD IP Service Association, Pengfei Huang,  the Secretary of Xuhui District committee on Science and Technology, Tao Song, the Deputy Investigator of Xuhui District committee on Science and Technology, Qing Chang, and the other leaders had given profound speeches about current IP situations in Free-Trade Area (“FTA”) and China Shanghai International Technology Fair (“CSITF”). Based on the practice of Caohejing IP Service Cluster Area, the leaders had strongly encouraged the aggregation of the resources of YRD IP service and application of the financial means. Many IP experts, scholars and representatives of the companies also shared their creative ideas and opinions regarding patent insurance, such as Mr.Alan Young,  pointed out the necessity of establishment of IP fund which is of practical operation. The YRD forum has helped the parties know better about each other, promote corporation, and improve the function of the market. Due to the forum, the IP service in YRD will progress into further stage.

Concurrently, another forum on financial law had invited plenty of outstanding scholars at other famous universities and high officials of relevant government agencies in addition to Jiaotong University and Duke University scholars, discussing about financial reforms and legal implications in the eyes of the Chinese and the American.

These two forums have brought about a new perspective on financial law together with IP service, and they became good platforms for sharing the accurate and state-of-the-art information and facilitate communication and corporation between China and the U.S..

On December 4th 2014, Mr.Alan Young was invited to participate in the IIPCC annual meeting. As Board member & Founding Member, Mr.Alan Young gave a speech that focused on introducing the current development status of the Shanghai Branch and plans for its future. Mr.Alan Young carried out in-depth communications with his global peers.
